Uninsured Motorists Coverage
DAVID PISANIC: Uninsured motorists coverages are most important coverage that you can buy because you are protecting you and not anyone else.
JOHN DOETZER: This coverage protects you and occupants of your vehicle if you are hit by somebody who either does not have any insurance at all or has limits that are not adequate to compensate you for the damage and injury suffered by you and the occupants of your vehicle.
DAVID PISANIC: You have to understand that there are great many people riding around you do not have any insurance coverage at all. In most states, you are not required to carry a great amount of coverage.
JOHN DOETZER: So, if you are going to go to the expense to protect other people against bodily injury or property damage that you may cause them, it make sense to protect yourself from those people that are not responsible enough to carry insurance at all, who are they are just carrying bear minimums.
DAVID PISANIC: Even if a person has coverage and say they have only got $20,000 in coverage, in most cases will not be nearly enough to take care of you say for one day at Shock Trauma could be a $100,000 in medical bills. This guy has $20,000. The other insurance company is going to say here is our $20,000, they are going to walk away and you are going to be left with how am I going to pay for the difference. Uninsured motorist coverage is your protection in case the person who injures you does not have very much insurance.
JOHN DOETZER: Your insurance company would step in and fill that gap for you.
DAVID PISANIC: And they are going to compensate you for your pain and suffering just as if there were another insurance company, who is insuring that guy.
